The US Department of the Treasury has announced that the deadline for the US customers’ business with RUSAL would be extended from June 5th to October 23rd. After the announcement, Glencore, the largest multinational commodity trading and mining company in the world, and United Company RUSAL (RUSAL) has officially submitted an application to the London Metal Exchange (LME) requesting the temporary relief of the ban on RUSAL’s aluminum products. The LME stated that it understood the reasons for the request but it needed to be carefully discussed.

After the US Department of the Treasury announced the sanctions on RUSAL previously, the LME suspended the aluminum products from RUSAL since April 17th.
