Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC (EGA), an aluminum group formed by the merger of Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) in 2013, said it had made progress on a new research project with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The project presented EGA's years of industry experience to MIT researchers as research materials to discover ways to reduce energy use, and the research also aimed to harness the magnetic field generated during aluminum production.
EGA considered this to be mutually beneficial and aimed to collaborate on 30 separate research projects thereafter. Actually, EGA had good reason to say this as their previous cooperation had saved EGA more than US$1 million in annual costs.
