According to Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), its guinea-based subsidiary had sent a Capesize Vessel full of bauxite to India, but it was not immediately clear who bought the huge amount of bauxite, which totaled nearly 173,000 tons.

In response, Abdulla Kalban, Managing Director and CEO of EGA, said that using a large ship to ship goods was one of the advantages of EGA, which greatly reduced the transportation cost and was very competitive.

The ship took nearly five days to carry from the upper reaches of the river to the high seas.

EGA, which had been buying bauxite from third parties for years and owned smelting and refining businesses, was an aluminum company formed by the merger of Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) in 2013.
