Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) signed the agreement with LD Ports & Logistics, a subsidiary of Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, for the transshipment of bauxite. Louis Dreyfus Armateurs will be responsible for transporting the bauxite produced by the EGA Guinea project from the port of Kamsar to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi.

EGA had two aluminum projects in Guinea, which were Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) and Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinee.

The GAC project was one of the largest investments in Guinea in the last 40 years and will be a new global source of bauxite supply, the first tone of bauxite from the project was expected in the second half of 2019.

Guinea Bauxite only supplied bauxite to EGA’s Al Taweelah smelter in Abu Dhabi. It was the first alumina plant in the United Arab Emirates, and the first batch of alumina was expected to be produced in the first half of 2019. Once fully operational, it will meet EGA 40% Alumina demand.
