The Aluminum Association and Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI) aimed to increase the recycling rate of aluminum beverage cans from the current level of 45.2% to 70% by 2030, 80% by 2040, and 90% by 2050.
If the recycling rate reaches 70%, the recycled aluminum cans will increase by at least 25 billion, which will bring more than US$400 million in revenue to the US recycling system, and the saved energy can supply the electricity for more than 1 million American families for the whole year, said CMI President Robert Budway.
