It was reported that Vietnamese aluminum products industry required the government to pay attention to Chinese low-cost import issues. The cheap aluminum materials currently imported from China were hurting Vietnamese producers, and they were worried that they couldn't compete under the price difference.

Some local aluminum manufacturers in Vietnam said that they must pass multiple origins and quality inspections before entering the market; however, Chinese imports weren't required. Therefore, its competitiveness was significantly worse than China.

Since September last year, the VAT tax refund for Chinese aluminum products has been raised from 9% to 13%. A higher tax refund meant that Vietnamese manufacturers couldn't compete on price. Chinese products accounted for 30% of Vietnamese aluminum imports, which was tripled in the past two years.
