It is reported that, the world largest aluminum producer, China’s primary aluminum capacity would increase by 1.4 million ton per annual (MTPA) in the first quarter of 2018, citing the postponed new facilities in 2017.

According to the report, in 2017, due to Chinese government’s supplying side regulations, about 2.79-MTPA primary aluminum capacity was postponed, and since end of December some producers had started some of their new facilities.

Currently, China’ local primary aluminum ingot is traded at RMB14,500/ton (about US$2235/ton), if this price kept stable in the coming month, the new established capacity is expected to reach 1.40 MTPA.
