China's bauxite imports totaled around 15.55 million tons in August, rising by 3.7% compared to the preceding month and by 34.4% from the same month a year ago, indicating a strong demand in China’s bauxite market.
In August, the bauxite supply from Guinea accounted for the largest share, totaling roughly 11 million tons, a month-on-month increase of nearly 5% and a year-on-year growth of 51%.
Australia was the second-largest supplier, with a delivery of 3.63 million tons to China, down by 6.7% month on month and by 0.7% year on year. Despite certain market fluctuations, Australia remained one of the major sources of bauxite for China.
As one of the largest aluminum producers in the world, China's demand for bauxite continues to grow. China has actively explored the international bauxite market and built stable trade relations with several supplying countries to meet domestic production needs.
