According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, China’s aluminum imports, including primary aluminum, unwrought aluminum, and alloyed aluminum, totaled around 255,700 tons in November this year, falling by 35.7% compared to the same month a year ago. The decrease was due to the growing domestic supply and weaker demand caused by the COVID-hit economy.
China’s domestic aluminum supply increased after power restrictions on industrial users were eased. The demand for this light metal dropped amid slowed economy during the epidemic period.
In the first 11 months of this year, China’s aluminum production amounted to 36.77 million tons, a year-on-year growth of nearly 4%.
