According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China’s alumina imports totaled 129,000 tons in November, up by 30.3% compared to the previous month while dropping by 34.2% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, Australia was the largest supplier, supplying 63,000 tons of alumina to China during the period, a month-on-month surge of 103.76% and a year-on-year decrease of 13.55%.

As the second-largest supplier, Indonesia exported roughly 31,300 tons of alumina to China in November, down by 50% month on month and by 65.25% year on year.

In the first 11 months of this year, China’s alumina imports amounted to roughly 1.56 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 17.8% Alumina exports during the period reached 1.13 million tons, and the export volume in November alone was 133,200 tons.

The year-on-year decline in China’s alumina imports in November showed that the market demand hasn’t recovered fully due to the domestic economic situation, policy adjustments, or changes in the international trade environment. The supply and demand conditions of China’s alumina market were expected to improve further with the global economic recovery and adjusted government policies.
