According to the report, Chinalco, the largest Chinese state-owned aluminum producer, has recently begun to expand its Toromocho copper mine in central Peru for US$1.3 billion.
It was reported that Chinalco controlled Toromocho in 2007, bringing the project to be used by the end of 2013. The company reached a preliminary agreement in November 2016 to include the development in the second phase through a US$1.3 billion expansion.
In addition, Chinalco hoped to expand Toromocho's copper concentrate processing capacity to 157,000 tons per day and annual refined copper production to 300,000 tons.
