Due to environmental protection concerns, China had further adjusted its import quota for scrap aluminum in the fourth quarter of this year. The import quota in the fourth quarter was significantly reduced compared with the previous quarter, and the import ports were only limited to a few ports like Nanhai, Nansha and Ningbo seaport.

Market analysts said the shrinking quotas would make life difficult for China's domestic aluminum market, which had a steady demand for scrap.

Moreover, according to the current situation, China's domestic importers could only import scrap metal from overseas with import licenses, and the amount of imported scrap metal was strictly controlled by the government.

In this regard, some people suggested that the import of aluminum alloy ingots might be able to alleviate China's domestic aluminum demand, while according to the analysis of statistical data, experts believed that this could only play a role in quench thirst.
