Century Aluminum, a US-based primary aluminum producer, reported its net income totaled US$17.7 million in the first quarter of this year, significantly decreasing by 70.7% compared to the previous quarter.
Driven by higher prices of primary aluminum and shipments, partially offset by higher raw material costs, the first-quarter adjusted EBITDA rose by US$23.3 million quarter on quarter to US$105.5 million.
During the period, the shipment of primary aluminum totaled 211,411 tons, up by 5.2% quarter on quarter. The increase was mainly due to the restart project at Mt. Holly.
