Century Aluminum, a global producer of primary aluminum, recently blamed lower London Metal Exchange (LME) Aluminum prices for its poor third-quarter results.
A closer look at Century Aluminum's third-quarter shipment data showed a decline in smelter production, which had been particularly affected by LME prices.
Michael Bless, President, and Chief Executive Officer said the company's operations were constrained by politics, raw material prices, and other factors, as competition in the market was evident and inventory levels were low.
Overall, Century Aluminum was operating in the normal range and was expected to have a new production line in operation by January next year (2020).
Also, Century Aluminum was restructuring some of its older production lines in an effort to control costs and keep safety in good shape.
