The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) last week certificated several mills and facilities of Brazil’s Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) that previously did not meet ASI standards.

The certification covered the production of aluminum plates, aluminum foil and large extruded sections, as well as services such as anodic oxidation.

ASI’s CEO Fiona Solomon praised CBA for its efforts to get the certification. In response, CBA’s CEO Ricardo Carvalho said that getting ASI's certification was necessary for the sustainable development of the CBA and would improve the competitiveness of the CBA in the market.

So far, CBA was the first Brazilian aluminum producer to receive ASI certification for mining and smelting.
