Rio Tinto's US$1.9 billion Amrun bauxite project has now completed 75%. The project was expected to be put into production in the middle of 2019 and the annual capacity of bauxite will reach 22.8 million tons.
Rio Tinto bauxite production was mainly used for the supply of the east coast of Queensland alumina refinery production; at present, the company was gradually shifting to the export market to China.
The Amrun project was also an experimental field for Rio Tinto Group's "future mine" plan. The "future mine" was a plan for Rio Tinto recently focusing on technology and innovation.
