Brazilian court approved emergency waste measures, which made the largest alumina refinery Alumina do Norte do Brasil S.A. (Alunorte) to restart another new 50% production to ease the concern of aluminum supply in the market.
In addition, the Australian Department of Industry's report showed that small lithium market had more attention in recent years because of electronic products and the battery demand for electrical bike was increasing. Global consumption of lithium increased from 149,000 tons in 2012 to 211,000 tons in 2017, with an average annual growth rate of 8%.
However, it was expected lithium consumption will increase significantly to 1.27 million tons roughly in 2027, with an average annual growth rate of nearly 50%, due to the expected rapid development of the electric vehicle industry.
