The US President Donald Trump announced to impose a 10% tariff on aluminum last Thursday. The European Aluminum Association (EAA) and Hydro, a Norwegian aluminum producer, blamed that the 10% tariff on imported aluminum might change the normal trade situation and weaken the competitiveness of the US downstream industries.
In addition, Toyota North America also said in a statement last Friday that President Trump’s plan for imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum products would hurt automakers and push up car prices substantially.
