Baise City, Guangxi, China has been blocked since January 7 due to the recent severe local epidemic. Since Baise City is an important production area of primary aluminum and alumina in China, the blockage was expected to tighten the market supply and both aluminum and alumina prices will keep rising this month.
Especially Baise City is the third-largest alumina producer in China. This city has a total of five alumina enterprises, with a total production capacity of 9.45 million tons. Baise’s control measure of no entry and exit will bring pressure on the production and transportation to the local industry. Alumina companies will reduce their output due to difficulties in purchasing raw materials, and transportation will also be affected.
