Alpha HPA Limited, an Australian-based mineral exploration and resource development company, has started the construction of the second phase of the high-purity alumina (HPA) first project in Queensland. The earthworks activities are now underway on site.

The project is to build the world’s largest single site facility for the production of high-purity aluminum materials, said Rimas Kairaitis, Managing Director at Alpha HPA.

The facility will cover an area of 10 hectares and will be operated on 100% renewable energy. It will utilize the established stage one factory and the latest process control systems and automation technology, with an annual production capability of 10,000 tons of HPA equivalent.

The project is likely to create more than 300 job opportunities during the construction, and around 120 full-time jobs are expected to be generated after the project is put into operation in 2025.
