Porsche and Norsk Hydro signed an agreement to cooperate in further reducing the carbon footprint of Porsche’s car models by using Hydro’s low-carbon aluminum and extrusions. Besides, the two companies will also collaborate on innovative value chain concepts for battery materials and recycling.
According to the agreement, Hydro will provide its low-carbon aluminum to Porsche and several of Porsche’s component suppliers.
Hydro will enable Porsche to reduce its aluminum footprint to around 3.5 kg of CO2 per kg of aluminum in future vehicle projects by 2025, which is around 60% lower than the average primary aluminum currently consumed in Europe.
