Alcoa Corp., a leading aluminum producer in the US, said it will expand its EcoSource™ low-carbon alumina brand to certain grades of non-metallurgical alumina.
The EcoSource™ brand is being expanded to non-metallurgical grades, including hydrates mainly used in municipal water treatment applications and calcined materials used to produce ceramic tiles, glass, and flame retardants.
This brand was first launched in 2020 for smelter-grade applications. It is the first and only low-carbon alumina brand in the world. Its average carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) intensity is below 0.6 tons per ton of alumina produced.
