Japan is the largest primary aluminum importer in Asia, with an annual primary aluminum import volume of about 2 million tons. Due to the resumption of eating out, the consumption of beverages was greatly reduced. Also, because of the short supply of chips, car production decreased a lot.
Aluminum is the main material of beverage packages and car making. Under this situation, in January this year (2023), the output of aluminum products in Japan fell to 121,793 tons, decreasing by 12.9% compared with the same period of last year.
