China's Yunnan Province implemented the second round of production restrictions on aluminum smelters within half a year, and the implementation was completed on February 27. This round of production cuts involves about 650,000-800,000 tons of production capacity of electrolytic aluminum.
The total yearly production capacity impacted by the two rounds of production restrictions is about 1.9 million tons, accounting for about one-third of Yunnan's built capacity.
Among them, Chinalco and its subsidiary Yunnan Aluminum, as well as Henan Shenhuo and Qiya Group have already cut production by more than 40%, of which Chinalco’s capacity was cut the largest.
