Hindalco Industries Limited, an Indian aluminum and copper manufacturer, is planning to build up a recycling and segregation plant for its aluminum and copper businesses in Gujarat, aiming to increase the proportion of recyclable products, a similar facility as its US subsidiary, Novelis.
The preliminarily estimated investment of this project is INR 3,000 crore. The plant will include a segregation unit and a smelter with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons.
Satish Pai, Managing Director of Hindalco, said that India is moving towards a green transition, so the demand for aluminum is increasing. Therefore, speeding up the recycling rate and developing an alternative supply chain becomes important.
