The construction of Ball Corporation's first circular economy lab, named the VADELATA for the Planet Lab, was started in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil last week. The 4,300-square-foot facility will be a location for the collection and recycling of aluminum cans. The project was scheduled to be opened in 2022.

The facility will not only recycle nearly 100,000 pounds of aluminum products in its first operation year but also educate residents and tourists about recycling.

Fauze Villatoro, commercial and sustainability vice president of Ball South America, said that as part of Ball Corp’s 2030 sustainable development goals and circular industry vision, the project will show the possibility for the company’s investment and priority of aluminum recycling.
