Brazilian aluminum consumption to rise due to growing packaging industry
According to statistics from the Brazilian Aluminum Association (ABAL), the apparent consumption of aluminum in Brazil was expected to go up by 7.5% year on year in 2019, cut from the previous estimate at 10-12%.

Milton Rego, Executive President of ABAL, said that the demand for aluminum packaging in pharmaceutical, food and beverage industry was expected to keep growing in the coming years, and the aluminum consumption was predicted to reach back a historical high level in 2013 by the end of this year or early 2020 due to the growing demand in aluminum packaging industry.

The statistics from the ABAL showed that the production of primary aluminum in Brazil totaled around 55,000 tons in July, up by 6.4% compared to the same month a year ago, hitting a new high since last April, also rising by 12.7% from the previous month.
