Weak demand for aluminum in Japanese market
It was reported that the aluminum premiums in Japan, the largest aluminum importer in Asia, dropped by US$11/ton to US$97/ton in the fourth quarter, which showed weak demand for aluminum in Japanese market.

However, the growth in aluminum exports from China, the largest aluminum producer in the world, increased the supply for the international aluminum market.

According to statistics from China Customs, the exports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum products totaled around 470,000 tons in August, hitting a new low since February this year, a year-on-year decrease of 10%; however, the exports in the first 8 months of this year had a year-on-year rise of 5% to 3.94 million tons.
