Chinese bauxite imports rise by 24.9% in Jan-Jul y-o-y

According to the data from Customs, China’s imports of bauxite rose by 24.9% year-on-year in the first seven months of the year on Chinese alumina refiners’ improvement from low-temperature production lines and using more foreign materials.

China’s bauxite imports were 9.66 million tons in July, up by 3.8% from June and 32.7% from the same period of 2018.

The total imports of bauxite in the first seven months of the year were around 66 million tons.

The main exporting countries of the material were the Republic of Guinea, Australia and Indonesia, contributing around 95% of the total volume in July. China imported around 4.5, 3.4 and 1.3 million tons from Guinea, Australia and Indonesia respectively.
