Alcoa & Rio Tinto's aluminum exports to be limited by Trump's tariff threats
According to reports, the Australian government has warned aluminum producers, such as Alcoa and Rio Tinto, to control the surge in exports to the US, in order to avoid Trump’s trade sanctions against Australia’s aluminum industry.

In March 2018, Trump imposed a 10% tariff on certain US aluminum imports and imposed import quotas, while Australia was exempted.

However, due to the sharp increase in Australia's exports of aluminum products to the US, the Trump administration has issued new tariff threats in recent months, which caused the Australian government to have to restrict the exports of local aluminum companies to the US.
