ASI certified Alcoa’s Baie-Comeau Aluminium Smelter
According to Alcoa, its Canadian Baie-Comeau aluminum smelter, in Quebec, certified by Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI).

Until now, Alcoa had three smelters distributed in North America, South America and Europe that had been certified for three years by ASI.

ASI was a global organization that set standards and certification for the aluminum industry and is committed to integrating sustainable production methods, material recovery and storage in the aluminum industry.

Michelle O'Neill, Alcoa's senior vice president of government affairs and sustainability, believed that this meant that Alcoa had achieved high achievements in sustainable development, which proved that Alcoa was a responsible company.

The Smelter’s certification was independently audited by DNV GL, ASI's Norwegian international registry and classification society.
