Peng Shaozong, Deputy Director of the Price Department of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said that the government will implement a stricter tiered electricity price policy for the electrolytic aluminum industry.
The energy efficiency level requirement for China’s electrolytic aluminum industry will be raised in three steps by 2025, and the enterprises which failed to meet the requirements will be implemented progressive price increases.
The move was to make a clear warning to this energy-intensive industry, continuing to force the industry to save energy, increase efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions.
